Project Description
Bloomfield, NJ is a historic suburban town with a NJ Transit Train Station in the heart of the downtown. Suffering the same fate as many other downtowns did with the arrival of malls to the suburbs, Bloomfield's downtown was in need of a revitalization strategy. The goal was to capitalize on the unique access to NYC via the train station to establish a community driven revitalization plan for this vibrant and accessible downtown.
Newwork was hired as the Master Development Consultant, responsible for creating a Vision Plan and Development & Implementation Strategy. This involved reaching out to the community, a master plan, the creation of a series of redevelopment plans for specific blocks located within downtown and establishing design guidelines. Having worked with the Town, individual property owners and the general public, Newwork was able to synthesize a realistic strategy for the revitalization of downtown.
