Project Description
The Kent Brenner Redevelopment Plan was created to revitalize one of Newark's vibrant residential neighborhoods and retail corridors. Building upon efforts and a plan put forth by the West Side Park Conservancy, this redevelopment plan seeks to capitalize on the neighborhoods inherent assets to create a framework that will guide future development.
Newwork was hired by the City of Newark to develop the Zoning and Urban Design & Architectural Guidelines for the redevelopment plan. These guidelines were developed through a collaborative design effort led by Newwork. Newwork hosted a series of design workshops involving local community groups, City Planning, consulting planners and other stakeholders. The ultimate product developed by Newwork is a set of Zoning and Design Standards including form-based zoning, architectural guidelines, streetscape guidelines and traffic calming.
